Seeking Upgrade Advice for My 2019 PC Under $500

I'm planning to upgrade my 2019 PC which has an Intel motherboard. I'm specifically looking to replace the CPU and GPU with a budget of around $400 to $500. I'd prefer an AMD graphics card for better compatibility with Linux since I'm currently using a 1660Ti paired with an i5 9600k. Any recommendations?

If you're considering a new CPU upgrade, keep in mind it will require a new motherboard since yours hasn't supported new CPUs for a while. I'd recommend looking at the Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB, not the 8GB version.

Upgrading both the CPU and GPU with your budget isn't feasible right now. For $400-$500, you're mainly looking at equal parts or older generations. If gaming is a priority, I suggest going for the 9060 XT; it will outperform your current 1660Ti. Just be aware that you'll want to watch for CPU bottlenecks too. You could also consider an older AM4 5800x3d with a decent motherboard. If you're low on power, consider selling your old PSU too for a new one. I’d go for the GPU first since prices might go up later.

Thanks for the info! The 16GB 9060 seems like my best option right now. I'll have to check, but I remember investing a fair bit into a good Corsair PSU.

Just curious, how much value would I lose if I opted for the 8GB version instead?
