Is Zorin OS the Best Choice for Gaming on My Low-End PC?

I'm considering switching to Linux, specifically Zorin OS, for my low-end PC that has an AMD A9-9420 CPU, Radeon R5 Integrated GPU, and 4GB of RAM. My main reason is to improve performance and play some classic games like Max Payne, along with a few Steam games such as CS Source and Roblox. However, I'm wondering if there's a better Linux distribution for gaming and everyday use that would suit my system better.

4GB of RAM might be a limitation for serious gaming, but you can still enjoy a lot of classic titles. Make sure to check PCGamingWiki for tips on getting them to run smoothly on Linux. And upgrading RAM might help if you can find compatible parts!

Older games like Max Payne should run just fine on Linux, but just a heads up: Roblox recently made it hard to play on Linux. As for your RAM, sticking with a light desktop environment like XFCE will definitely help with performance. Mint or even Bodhi Linux could be great options!

I’m also downloading Mint XFCE! Just wanted a way to enjoy classic games with my limited hardware.

Zorin is nice, but I wouldn’t recommend it for older systems with just 4GB of RAM. It’s better to go with something lighter like Mint or even Xubuntu, although some users do report bugs with Xubuntu. It’s all about finding what works for you!

While I’m a fan of Arch-based distros for gaming, Zorin is Ubuntu-based which most people find more user-friendly, especially if they’re new to Linux. Just remember that gaming performance depends on the games themselves and how well they run on Wine or Proton!

With your specs, I think switching to Linux is a solid choice! For a low-end PC like yours, Mint XFCE could really help boost your performance compared to Zorin. It’s lightweight and should handle those older games well. Just make sure to keep your system updated!

I just downloaded Mint XFCE—thanks for the suggestion! I want to play Roblox, but I heard they might block Linux support. Any tips?
