I'm attempting to install Linux on my old HP Mini PC since Windows 11 is too heavy for it with the onboard AMD graphics card. However, I'm running into a problem where the video signal drops out during the installation. It seems like it's trying to use the VGA port instead of the DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that I have plugged in. I've looked through the BIOS but I can't find an option to disable the VGA port. Am I on the right track with this, or is there another solution to get Linux up and running?

You should definitely try the latest version of Ubuntu MATE LTS (26.04). Some users have found better success with it on older hardware. Download it from their official site and give it a shot!
What Linux distribution are you trying to install? That could make a difference. Several users have reported similar issues with different distros, so knowing which one might help find a solution.
It sounds like Linux is having trouble with your VGA port, just like Windows 11. You might want to try using the `nomodeset` option during boot, which disables advanced graphics until you're fully in the system. If that doesn't help, you could be stuck with a rather expensive paperweight! Maybe consider trying a different distro if that doesn't work.
