Issues Powering Up My New 5070 Ti

Hey folks! I recently upgraded my GPU from a 2080 Super to a 5070 Ti and I'm having some trouble getting it to power on. I'm using a Corsair RM850x power supply from 2020 and have connected the PCIe cables to the included 12VHPWR adapter before plugging it into the new graphics card. However, my PC won't turn on at all — there's just a red light on the GPU.

I've got three separate 6+2 PCIe cables, and each one is plugged into its own PCIe slot on the power supply. Am I missing something here? Do I need different cables or perhaps a new power supply? Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds like you might not be connecting your cables correctly. Make sure that the PSU PCIe cable is properly connected to both the PSU and the 12VHPWR adapter before plugging into the GPU. Sometimes it's easy to overlook this step. The cables that came with your PSU are usually the right ones to use, so just ensure they’re reaching the adapter correctly.

Sure, I've been using the same cables with no issues on my old GPU, so it should work fine if everything is connected properly. Maybe just check the connections, they can be tricky!

Double-check that the 12VHPWR plug is seated properly. It can be a bit finicky and if it's not fully connected or bent at a harsh angle, it won't work. Sometimes just reseating it can solve the problem.

Haha, yeah! I totally get that. Reconnecting cables seems minor, but it can cause big issues if something's not snug.
