I recently bought a 5060Ti graphics card and I'm running into some major issues getting it to work properly. The driver installation freezes towards the end, although it installs without a problem when I use my older GPU instead. Once the new GPU is installed, Windows tends to lock up about 30-60 seconds after I log in, right after a moment where the screen flashes black. Interestingly, I noticed that this black flash happens even with my old GPU, but it doesn't lead to a freeze like it does with the new one. The flash seems to coincide with the system recognizing new displays, suggesting it's related to some kind of video initialization.
For context, my PC build consists of a Strix B350-F motherboard, Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, Seasonic G-550 550W power supply, and 32GB of RAM. I've attempted to install both new and old driver versions, including Studio drivers. Some folks have recommended reducing the PCIe Generation in the BIOS, but I can't seem to find that option—just the x2/x4 lane detection options, and switching to 2x didn't resolve the issue. So my main question is: Is this a common issue with the 50xx series that might improve with future drivers, or is my motherboard simply incompatible with this GPU?

Honestly, it sounds like it could be a problem specifically with the 5000 series of cards. But looking at your setup, it might be a good idea to consider upgrading your components in the future. That Ryzen 5 1600 might start bottlenecking when paired with such a powerful GPU, but until then hopefully, you can get this sorted out!
You should definitely check again for the PCIe settings in your BIOS. There should be an option to set it to Gen 2, even if it feels buried. Just make sure you're not confusing lane options (like 2x/4x) with generation settings. It's worth digging through every menu in the BIOS—Google says it should be there!
I've been in the same boat, but I think the option might be under "Advanced" > "PCIe Subsystem Settings." Give that a shot!
I hear you! It's frustrating when you can't find it. Just check one last time; it might be hiding somewhere.
Totally get wanting to make it work a bit longer! I wish I had the budget to just replace everything too. Maybe this GPU upgrade can last you until the funds come in for a full update.
