Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a jam with my new PC build and could really use some advice. I've got a system featuring a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MSI B650 Tomahawk motherboard (bought second hand from someone who said it was working perfectly), an RTX 2080 Ti, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, a Samsung 980 NVMe SSD, a Montech XR case, a be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5 cooler, and a Montech Century II 850W power supply.
The machine powers on normally – all the fans are spinning, the GPU lights up, and everything seems fine with the PSU. The motherboard's debug LEDs for CPU and DRAM light up momentarily during boot but then turn off, which is a bit concerning. However, I'm facing a frustrating issue: there's absolutely no display output at all.
Here's what I've already tried: 1) Different HDMI and DisplayPort cables hooked up to the GPU (my monitor is definitely working). 2) Another functional GPU (still no display). 3) I flashed the latest BIOS via USB, and that went through without issues. 4) Changed RAM sticks and tried each one in all slots. 5) Reseated the GPU along with all power cables. 6) Attempted a minimal boot with just the CPU, one stick of RAM, and the GPU.
The CPU fan is connected to the CPU_FAN header and the case fans to the SYS_FAN header. The GPU is powered with PCIe cables (which I've also swapped out). A local PC shop has suggested that my motherboard might be faulty. Before I go ahead and replace it, is there anything I might still be overlooking? Could reseating the CPU or resetting the CMOS actually make a difference, or does this sound like I might have a dead motherboard? Thanks a lot for any insights!

It definitely sounds like you might have a faulty motherboard based on what you’ve described. However, I'd recommend trying to connect your monitor directly to the motherboard. The Ryzen 7 7800X3D has integrated graphics that you can use just to check if the motherboard is functioning. Also, try using a different PCIe slot for your GPU. It’s not uncommon for certain slots to be faulty, so switching it up could help! Good luck!

I’ve tried connecting the monitor to the motherboard and nothing came up, but I haven't switched the GPU slot yet. What would be the reasoning for that possibly making a difference?
