Looking for a Better Remote Solution for an Older TV

I'm trying to figure out if I need a universal remote for an old TV I know someone has (it's over 10 years old) that's primarily used with a Fire TV Stick. The setup is a bit of a mess: the original TV remote can only turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume, and switch HDMI inputs. They've got an Amazon Fire TV remote that doesn't work well and isn't being used. Another remote can turn on the TV and navigate the Fire TV Stick, but it won't adjust the volume. Honestly, all three remotes are in bad shape and it's frustrating needing two just to use the TV and Fire Stick properly. They don't want to get a new TV, so I'm wondering if there's a universal remote out there that could replace both of those remotes, and ideally, one that might have a keyboard for easier navigation on the Fire TV Stick. Does anyone know if such a remote exists, or should I be looking for something else? I've tried searching online but I keep finding outdated info or ads that aren't helpful. Any advice would be great!

First, make sure CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) is turned on for both the TV and Fire Stick. It usually allows one remote to control both devices. If that doesn't solve it, look for a universal remote that has a nice design and can handle both types of signals you'll need.

Honestly, just replacing the Fire Stick remote is probably your easiest option. They're not too pricey and will let you control things the way you want without all the confusion.

I repair old remotes myself and recommend getting a used one from eBay that matches your current TV model if possible. You can also clean the conductive pads under the buttons—it works wonders. Just make sure you have the right tools to take it apart carefully.

I've had a Sofabaton remote that worked really well for controlling multiple devices, but setup can get a bit tricky. If you're having issues with the Fire Stick learning the TV's volume controls, I remember you might need to reprogram it to get it to cooperate.

OneForAll remotes are generally solid. They could handle most devices you throw at them and are pretty straightforward to set up.
