Looking for a Budget-Friendly Audio Solution Without Static

I'm trying to find a good alternative for my motherboard's audio because I'm experiencing static noise when I use USB DACs. I just need an aux output for my 32-ohm headphones. Can anyone suggest a low-cost solution that doesn't compromise on quality?

One more option could be to look for a used AV unit. You could connect it via HDMI from your GPU for audio. It's a bit unconventional, but if it works for you, that could be an effective solution!

For a super cheap solution, you might look for a professional audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett or Native Instruments Komplete, but I know you’re trying to keep costs down, so maybe check if your motherboard has optical out and find a used HiFi amp to pair it with.

Honestly, you generally get what you pay for. If you're really set on a low cost, you could try an inexpensive Apple USB-C dongle, but if you don’t want to use that port, it might limit your choices.

If the USB DAC is causing static, it might be a sign of a bad unit. USB should stay digital until it reaches the headphones, so if you're using a low-quality DAC, the conversion could be introducing noise. If you're looking for alternatives, consider getting a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z SE, since it’s mounted internally and could be better shielded from interference than some USB options.

If you're getting static from USB DACs, it might be a grounding issue. Try plugging it into a different outlet or consider getting a ground loop isolator as a quick fix between your headphones and the DAC. That could help clear up the noise you're hearing.
