Hey everyone! I'm new to Linux and have some basic command knowledge (like ls, rm, mv, pwd), but I'm eager to dive in and try Linux out at least once. I'm on the lookout for a vibrant, stylish distro that's also useful for development—particularly in web and machine learning (though I'm just starting to learn). I was considering Garuda because of its awesome neon theme, but I've heard that it might be a bit heavy. Is it true that I need to strip down some features to make it lightweight? Should I look at other distros as well? Just to give you some context, I have an i7 8665U laptop with 8GB of RAM. Thanks for your input! Also, please excuse any grammar mistakes; English isn't my first language.

Your laptop's specs are decent, but since you mentioned you don't have a GPU, keep in mind that heavy machine learning tasks might be out of reach. I suggest trying Endeavour OS; it's Arch-based and user-friendly for newcomers. Plus, you can easily customize the themes if you're after that cool look. It's a great way to start without being overwhelmed.
Yeah, I'm not planning on doing heavy stuff either. Just curious about how Linux functions and what it feels like!
