Hey everyone! I'm trying to find a music player that suits my preferences, and I could use some recommendations. I've been using Windows Media Player for a long time and I'm quite satisfied with its features, so I'm hoping to find something similar now that I'm on Fedora.
Here are my main requirements:
* Ability to create, save, and import playlists
* Option to browse albums and play random tracks from them
* Shuffle-play functionality for albums or playlists
* An internal volume control within the app
* It would be great to see the current play queue when shuffle-playing a playlist, but that's not a dealbreaker for me.
I've tried a few players like Strawberry, but it felt a bit clunky and had some odd playlist behavior. Rhythmbox didn't shuffle properly, which led to duplicate songs. Audacious was too focused on playlists, and Elisa didn't support playlists at all. I'm open to trying Windows players too, if they can run on Wine. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You might want to check out VLC Media Player. It's cross-platform and pretty robust, although it's not the prettiest app out there. It should be available in your distribution's package manager. I've used it on Windows, Mac, and Linux, and it works great!
I suggest giving cmus a try. It's a terminal-based player that has all the features you're looking for, including playlist management and other functionalities. You can control volume via your OS settings, too, so you might not miss having it in-app!
I’ve heard good things about cmus! How user-friendly is it for someone who might not be so familiar with terminal apps?
