Looking for a User-Friendly Linux for My Chromebook

I recently got a Chromebook from my cousin, but I'm not a fan of Chrome OS after just a few minutes of using it. I've previously worked with driver ports on another PC and used a Linux OS designed for development work and basic white hat programs, but that one wasn't fully functional due to the hardware limitations of that device. I'm looking for a user-friendly Linux distribution that I can install on my Chromebook without risking bricking it. Ideally, it would come with some developer tools—basically, I need something suitable for beginners that still has some functionality. If you think I should provide the laptop's specs, let me know!

You might find resources in specific forums or wikis that could help narrow down your options. Also, definitely take backups and experiment with a Virtual Machine first to get a feel for what you like without risking your Chromebook's main OS!

Before choosing a Linux distro, it's important to know if your Chromebook has an ARM or Intel (x86) CPU since that affects compatibility. Since you mentioned you have an Intel Core, you have more options. For a user-friendly experience, you might want to try distributions like Ubuntu or Linux Mint—they're pretty intuitive for beginners and have good support. Make sure to check compatibility and installation guides to avoid issues!

Yeah, I agree! Ubuntu is a solid choice for beginners, and Mint has a nice interface that's pretty similar to Windows. Both are capable of running development tools as well.
