Hey everyone! I'm a 20-year-old looking to get serious about learning web development. I've been watching YouTube tutorials, but I struggle with applying what I learn and often forget the steps. I understand the concepts but have a hard time with the syntax. I'm hoping to get some suggestions from both recent learners and experienced developers on how to start effectively. Thanks in advance!

How are your math skills? It can help to have a decent grasp of math when learning programming since some concepts rely on it.

I recommend picking a course, like FreeCodeCamp or The Odin Project, and stick with it until you finish. It'll help you stay focused and structured in your learning!

I’m worried about my syntax, though. I'm really struggling with it.

Also, how many hours per week should I dedicate to this? I’m ready to commit more than four hours, but I want to know how long it’ll take to get good, especially with syntax being my challenge.

CSS can indeed be tricky! Honestly, web development takes years to master fully, so don't stress too much. Just keep at it, and it will start making sense over time. Embrace the confusion and keep pushing through!

Yeah, pretty much everything in coding feels confusing at first! But if you keep practicing, it gets easier.

I found that repetition and a lot of Googling help a ton. Start by making a simple webpage and styling it. Get comfortable with layout designs. Once you can create your own web templates, try building something like a JavaScript calculator. After that, you can dive into PHP or MySQL for something a bit more intensive and check out popular frameworks.

I managed to get through that using just HTML, but CSS and JS totally trip me up!
