Looking for Beginner-Friendly Website Options for an ARG

Hey everyone! I'm trying to create a website for an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) for a friend, but I'm completely new to web development. I'm on the lookout for an easy way to build this site that allows for a good amount of customization and the ability to insert custom assets. Ideally, I'd prefer free options, but I do have a small budget of around $5 per month if necessary. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Have you considered using WordPress? It offers plenty of presets and themes to get you started, which can be helpful for customization. Just a heads up, though—using WordPress effectively for a custom site is a bit more complex than it seems.

To get started, you'll need a domain name, which usually costs at least $12 for a .com. If you're looking for free hosting, GitHub Pages is a great option, but keep in mind that your site will have to be either statically generated or coded manually. Do you want to dive into coding, or are you looking for no-code solutions?

Creating a web game isn’t easy, even if you’re just going for a text-based interface. But if you stick to static pages without back-end needs, you're in luck! There are free hosting options you can utilize. Just keep the backend requirements in mind to keep things simple.
