Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my workstation and I'm a bit out of the loop on current hardware. I'm looking for the best CPUs suitable for a combination workstation/gaming setup right now. My main software includes Maya, After Effects, and Premiere, and I'm thinking about diving into generative AI for future projects, but that's not my priority at the moment.
I plan to keep my current Radeon RX 6600 for now and look to upgrade it next year. Performance in gaming isn't my main concern—just enough to run everything smoothly. I'm aware that C4D and DaVinci Resolve might be limited by the GPU, but that doesn't worry me too much for the near future since I mostly use CPU rendering in Maya and have had trouble with GPU rendering. Any advice? Thanks!

If gaming isn’t your top priority, you could go for CPUs that focus more on productivity. The AMD Ryzen 9s from the 7000 and 9000 series or Intel’s i7 265K and i9 285K are solid options. Plus, AMD’s usually offers more upgrade potential down the line if that matters to you.
I’m using the 14700K. It really shines in CAD applications thanks to its great single-core performance.

That's good to know! I'm okay with 'plenty good' for gaming. Loved my mid-AM4 upgrades but I was curious if Intel had a big lead in performance.
