After almost 20 years away from the hobby, I finally have the chance to build a new gaming PC. I've tried to catch up on current hardware and would appreciate feedback on whether these parts work well together. My planned build is an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, MSI B850 GAMING PLUS WIFI motherboard, Alpenföhn Dolomit Premium cooler, 32 GB of DDR5-6000 memory, a PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT Red Devil 16 GB OC, a 2 TB Kioxia Exceria Plus G4 SSD, a Sharkoon Rebel C60 RGB case, and an ENDORFY Supremo FM6 1000 W power supply. I'm pairing it with a GIGABYTE AORUS FO32U monitor and plan to run CachyOS. Are there any compatibility concerns or parts you would change?

The overall build looks well balanced, and the 7800X3D should pair nicely with the RX 9070 XT for high-refresh gaming. The main area where opinions may differ is the motherboard. An ASUS TUF B850-PLUS WiFi or B850-PRO WiFi7 could be worth comparing, since they offer strong audio, solid component quality, and a BIOS interface some people find easier to use. That said, the MSI board is not automatically a bad choice—compare the rear USB layout, networking, front-panel connectivity, and current prices before deciding.
For these similarly positioned boards, the differences are fairly minor. MSI may offer more high-speed rear USB connectivity, while ASUS may have a faster front USB option depending on the exact model. If your internet connection is only 1 Gb, the difference between 2.5 Gb and 5 Gb networking probably won’t matter.
