Hey everyone! I could really use some advice regarding my dad, who is blind and has started teaching tech to older folks in the blind community. He uses an Apple device with VoiceOver and has had great success with Meta Glasses, helping people to utilize them. Recently, he's been getting a lot of calls for tech support regarding those glasses and other tech issues. While he manages to answer questions over the phone using a black screen and VoiceOver, he's struggling to take notes effectively during those calls. I've tried having him transcribe the conversations, but that becomes cumbersome. I'm considering getting him a Mac laptop or an iPad with a keyboard so he can type notes more easily while still on calls. However, I'm a bit unsure if that's the best solution, especially since it adds a learning curve. I'd love to hear your thoughts or any other suggestions you might have!

This is a really thoughtful issue to tackle. Since your dad is already using Apple products, I’d recommend going for a Mac over an iPad. The VoiceOver feature works really well on a Mac, plus a physical keyboard makes note-taking during calls much easier. Keeping the tasks separate on two devices might also help—a small MacBook for calls and a separate keyboard for notes could work well.
