Hey everyone! I'm an IT student, and I could use your suggestions for a user-friendly Linux distribution for my mom. Her PC doesn't meet the requirements for Windows 11, and while I could install a lighter version like Tiny11, she values her privacy, especially considering Microsoft's policies. So I'm leaning towards installing Linux instead. We have two options: her current laptop, which is a bit outdated, or my secondary laptop, which is more powerful but has issues with Intel RST that cause freezes when I try to install Ubuntu. She's been using Windows forever and is really accustomed to it, so I'd love to hear what distributions you would recommend for her. For now, I plan to have her test Ubuntu on a virtual machine to see how she feels about it. Thanks for any help you can provide!

I recommend trying Zorin OS or Linux Mint. Both are fantastic options for someone transitioning from Windows.
If she's used to Windows, consider Kubuntu. It has a KDE desktop environment that's customizable and similar enough to look and feel like Windows.
You should install the same distro you’re using, since you'll be her tech support. It’ll make it easier for you to help her out if you both are familiar with the same system.
Linux Mint with the Cinnamon desktop is a great choice. It's user-friendly and pretty similar to Windows, making it easier for her to adapt.
For older machines, OpenSUSE Leap or Fedora with KDE would work nicely too. They’re designed to run smoothly on less powerful hardware!
