Looking to Build a Web App for My World Cup Pool—Where to Start?

I'm running a pool for the World Cup with my friends that has evolved from a simple Google Sheet to a more complicated setup as participation has grown. In the past, I managed around 50 players without issues, but last year, over 150 participants made it quite laggy, and I found myself struggling to keep track of scores in real-time. I've been advised to transition this into a web app for the upcoming World Cup in 2026. I don't have technical skills, so I'm unsure where to hire someone, how much it might cost, or if I could potentially learn to do this myself. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hey! I'm a full-stack developer with 8 years of experience, looking to take on my first freelance project, and your idea sounds exciting! If you're interested, we can discuss your needs and figure out the costs together. I'm located in India, so we can set up a call to go over everything!

I actually built a similar app for my friends during the Euros, and I was planning to make an updated version for this World Cup. If you give me a shout with specifics, I’d be happy to see if our plans could align!

This sounds like a really fun project! I'd like to help out for free since I just graduated and need to build up my portfolio. We can definitely set clear expectations and timelines before proceeding. Just hit me up with a message!

To learn how to make this yourself, I suggest starting with online coding courses, especially focusing on web development. Platforms like Codecademy and freeCodeCamp have great resources. It may take time, but you could gain the skills needed to manage your projects!
