Hey everyone! I'm facing the inevitable upgrade to Windows 11, and it seems like I need a new CPU and possibly a motherboard to get my gaming rig up to speed. My brother built this system before he passed away, so I'm reaching out for some advice on what to upgrade. Here are my current specs:
- Motherboard: Z270-Gaming K3 by Gigabyte
- CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.00GHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050
- RAM: 16GB (2x8GB DDR4 Kingston Beast Fury)
- SSD: 1TB Samsung (plus a 1TB Barracuda HDD)
- Power Supply: EVGA SuperNova 750 G2 Gold

I'm hoping to stick to a budget of under $1000, but cheaper options are definitely preferred. Any recommendations on parts I should look into? Thanks in advance!

To really benefit from Windows 11, you’ll likely need to upgrade both your CPU and motherboard since your current setup is a bit older. I recommend looking into processors like the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X or the Intel Core i5-12600K along with a compatible motherboard. You might also want to consider adding more RAM if you're looking to enhance performance even further. It's worth checking out combo deals at your local store too for savings!
