I'm currently using a 3700X CPU with an RTX 4070 and 16GB of DDR4 RAM, paired with a 1080p 100Hz monitor. Personally, I don't see myself needing more than 1080p at 100 FPS, even after seeing higher FPS on another monitor. I'm considering upgrading to a 9700X with a new motherboard and 32GB of RAM, but I would love some confirmation on whether this is a good idea or if there are better options out there.

If you want to save some cash, the 5700X3D is a great option. But if you're willing to spend a bit more, transitioning to AM5 could also be a solid plan, although that will cost more.
Honestly, you might just want to update the BIOS on your existing motherboard. It can save you a lot, and it'll be sufficient for what you're doing! Plus, you could add 32GB of RAM if you feel like it. Check out this affordable setup I found!
I love that idea! Sometimes the simplest upgrade can provide so much value.
The 9700X is a great pick if you're set on getting a new motherboard. Also, check if your current board can handle the 5700X—it's often really affordable and greatly improves performance!
If you're already on AM4, I'd suggest going for the 5700X3D. It's a solid upgrade and you can just drop it in without hassles. It's much better than what you currently have!
Totally agree! It's one of the best choices for a simple upgrade.
Yup, 5700X3D is the best option for you right now.
If you can snag a 5800X3D, that's even better, but the 5700X3D is definitely more widely available. Just make sure you find one that fits your budget!
Yeah, saving money while upgrading sounds like a plan to me!
