I'm not a complete newbie when it comes to Linux; I've got intermediate skills with the terminal and bash scripting. Recently, I've been frustrated with OneDrive holding my files hostage, which has intensified my desire to fully transition to Linux. I've mostly stuck with Windows for its convenience, but I'm ready for a change. What I need from my new OS are:
- Reliable support for running LaTeX compilers without complicated installations.
- Minimal friction for my programming projects in VSCode.
- A decent GUI that's user-friendly.
- Ability to run CS2, as I've struggled with NVIDIA drivers on Ubuntu 20.04.
I'm leaning towards Ubuntu again because it tends to work out of the box. However, I'm open to hearing any other suggestions. Also, if anyone has tips on backing up my data, that would be super helpful! Thanks!
