Hey everyone, I recently ended a relationship with someone who was quite controlling and I've taken all the recommended steps to secure my Gmail accounts—changed passwords, logged out from all devices, and set up two-step verification. However, my ex managed to access my Facebook account, linked to my business pages, and he added two of his email addresses while removing mine, which made me lose access to my Facebook and business page.
Now, I found out that he's been accessing my emails too! He's been reading very personal emails and even deleting important business ones. He claims that one of the accounts is joint and insists he needs access to those emails, but all the businesses are solely mine. I'm really confused because I can see emails being opened while I'm logged into Gmail. If anyone has advice on how to secure my accounts more effectively or what steps I should take next, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like he might have installed a keylogger or some other type of monitoring software on your device. Definitely have your computer checked by a professional to rule that out! Also, make sure your passwords are not syncing with any of his devices (like a tablet or an old phone). You can follow the un-enrollment instructions on the Google support page to disconnect any device that isn't yours.
One major tip is to create a non-Gmail address for recovery purposes—maybe get a cheap SIM plan for that. Once you have a new recovery email, enable 2FA on all your accounts and consider using an authentication app like Authy. If you're using Apple devices, don’t forget to change your iCloud passwords and disable any sharing options. Also, clear your Chrome sync data to prevent saved passwords from being accessed.
You could also install a fresh browser that you haven't used before, like Pale Moon or Opera, then change all your passwords through that. And as an extra precaution, you might want to forward all your Gmail emails to that new account for backup.
You should also consider using a public library computer if you can't access a trusted friend's device. Start by changing your Gmail password immediately and make sure your recovery accounts are secure. It's crucial to have multi-factor authentication enabled on all your accounts.
