I've had my laptop for about three years, and now it just won't turn on. The charging light indicates that it's fully charged, but I'm having some issues. I've tried unplugging everything and pressing the power button, but nothing seems to work. The screen has been broken for over a year, so I've been using an external monitor, which sometimes turns on by itself but then quickly turns off within five seconds. It's not booting up fully, almost like it's running low on power. I've cleaned it thoroughly, so I'm puzzled about what's causing this. It was working fine until last night, and I initially thought it was my charger, which is why I went to bed without fixing it. So, just to summarize: the light comes on, but it powers off quickly, even though the charger appears to be functioning well with the charging light on.

You might need to look at replacing the battery. What model is your laptop? You could try removing the battery and see if it can run directly off the charger; that used to work more with older models.
Can you hear any noises when you try to start it? Like the fans or if it has a spinning hard drive? Try pulling out the battery and just plugging in the charger. Sometimes laptops won't boot if the battery is dead, but you can bypass it using just the charger (this doesn't work for Macs). It could be various issues, but often it might involve internal hardware like a blown capacitor, which is more complex to fix.
I remember when laptops could run without a battery too, but I don't think many can do that anymore.
