About five hours ago, my Microsoft account was hacked. The hacker changed my email alias and security info, which cut off my access. I reached out to Microsoft support and spoke with a live agent who escalated my case. I filled out a personalized recovery form, and I later received a confirmation email from the Microsoft Account Safety Team indicating that unauthorized access had occurred. Unfortunately, they stated they couldn't restore my account since the security information was altered. My account is linked to purchases like Minecraft and has data in OneDrive. I've reported the breach promptly. Has anyone been through something similar? Is there any way to escalate or recover my account after Microsoft has said it can't be restored? I have proof of security alerts and purchases.

Honestly, it's probably a lost cause. It’s really unfortunate, but Microsoft doesn’t typically allow recoveries on compromised accounts. If they didn’t give you access back right away, they’re likely set on just banning it. It sucks, but sometimes starting fresh is the only way forward.
The situation is rough, but if you were tricked into giving an MFA code or your password, that's on the account security practices. It's a good lesson in being more cautious. Might be time to think about starting over, but just ensure you take better precautions next time.
It sounds tough, but if Microsoft is saying they can’t restore the account because of the change in security info, it's looking pretty bleak. Once they classify it as compromised, they often won't budge on the suspension. It might feel unfair, especially when you have evidence to support your claim. Sometimes, people have had luck by repeatedly reaching out to support or trying different channels of communication, but it’s a long shot. Good luck!

Yeah, I've heard stories of people getting lucky after escalating, but it’s not common. Just be careful and keep your security tight.
