My Power Supply Keeps Dying – What Could Be Wrong?

I built a PC for my wife a while back, and it was running fine until a few weeks ago when it suddenly wouldn't turn on. She didn't mention this right away since she doesn't use it daily. After I checked it out, I figured out the power supply was faulty because the voltages across the 24-pin connector were off. I ordered a replacement power supply on May 30 and replaced the old one. It worked well until today, but now it won't turn on again. The power supply seems dead once more. I have it connected to an APC UPS, which hasn't caused issues with other devices. What could be making the power supply fail so frequently?

First off, make sure the PSU is getting good airflow. Sometimes if it's cramped, it can overheat. Also, check the age of your UPS. If it’s older, it might not be providing stable power or enough power if the battery is degraded, especially if your PC is the biggest draw on the UPS.

Thanks for the tip! The PSU has good airflow since it’s in a spacious spot and clean of dust. The UPS is about 4 years old and has been through some rough times; it was used without a proper ground for a while.
