My UPS is shutting off unexpectedly – what could be wrong?

Hi everyone, I'm reaching out for some help regarding my AWP AID2000 AIDE series UPS. I've been using it for about a year without issues, but recently it started turning off unexpectedly, even though the power is still on. This first happened a couple of days ago when the electricity went out and my computer shut off immediately. I thought that was odd, and it happened again last night. I performed a test where I unplugged everything except for a fan and phone charger to see if it was running out of power, and it worked fine. However, this morning it shut down again, showing a flashing yellow light as if it's charging, and that happened twice. I currently have the UPS taken apart and did some tests with a multimeter; both batteries show a healthy 12v. I'm feeling pretty lost on what steps to take next. Should I consider replacing the batteries, or is there another way to troubleshoot this issue? Also, there are no signs of damage on the PCB, and the fuse looks intact.

It’s also worth noting that not all sockets on the UPS provide backup power—some might only pass through current during regular operation. Double-check your setup to make sure everything is connected correctly. If the battery check doesn't reveal anything, and you're still facing the same issues, getting new batteries might be the way to go.

Yeah, it's common for UPS units to have a mix of backup and non-backup outlets. Just make sure you're using the right ones, or else it may seem like it's not working properly.

It sounds like your UPS might not be able to handle your system's power needs properly, or it might have a faulty battery even if the voltage looks good. Have you tried doing a proper battery load test? That can help pinpoint if the battery is struggling under load. Even if visually the battery seems fine, it might not perform well when it actually has to supply power.

I use a battery load tester that applies a specific load and measures the voltage drop over a few minutes. It's critical to ensure your battery holds up under that pressure, so you might want to get one to try it out.
