Hey everyone, I'm not really savvy with website stuff, so I hope this question makes sense! I recently got charged $126 by GoDaddy for renewing my domain name and their privacy protection service, but I haven't used their services in years. I'm planning to try to get a refund since these charges don't even appear on my account page.
I really don't want to lose my domain, and I'm looking for the most affordable way to keep it. Is $126 a fair price for renewing a domain? Also, if I manage to get the charge reversed, should I be worried that my domain will be taken by someone else since it's unique? What would you recommend for transferring my domain to a more affordable registrar? Finally, I'd love to hear about the best website builders and hosting platforms for artists like painters and photographers since I need to start over with my site. If I'm in the wrong place for this, any pointers on where to post would be awesome. Thanks a bunch!

You should definitely check out Cloudflare! They don’t have any hidden fees for keeping your domain, and their free plan comes packed with security tools and hosting for static sites. Plus, transferring your domain there is super easy, with guides on how to move it from GoDaddy. Just a heads-up, your concern about GoDaddy potentially scooping up your domain is valid; they might try to charge you more to get it back later, so don’t wait!
Transferring to Cloudflare sounds good! I’d go for that and then follow up with GoDaddy for the refund afterwards. Just be ready to let that money go if they give you a hard time.
