Need Help Building a Simple Status Website – Where Should I Start?

Hey everyone! I'm taking over a basic project and I'm looking for some guidance since I haven't built a website in about 20 years. The current web development landscape is pretty foreign to me. I need help in setting up a status website where users can submit a unique number on a landing page (like status.com). After submission, they should be redirected to a status page (like process.status.com) that displays the percentage of completion along with the current step in the process, similar to a Domino's pizza tracker. Ideally, I'd like a loading bar to show progress and an admin page for managers to update the status easily. I'm currently experimenting with Wix and would really appreciate any recommendations on Wix apps or any other tools that could help me achieve this. I'm open to suggestions, even if it means spending extra money for a better solution. Thanks for your help!

Have you thought about using an AI for some direction? I put your question through one and it suggested some Wix extensions that may not be well-known here. You might find better custom web development solutions, though, rather than tech support for Wix specifically.

Definitely check out some AI tools. I heard there's a webdev leaderboard where you can see top models like Gemini and Deepseek that might help you out.

That's a cool idea! Did you use something like ChatGPT or another programming-specific model? Thanks!

Honestly, I’m not sure how effective Wix is. We had a tough time with it on another project. I’d recommend using AI to help you create something that actually works well.

I’m willing to give AI a try! Any specific ones you would recommend for coding?

If you're coding, I’d ideally use PHP and MySQL to pull data from a database to display on the site. Just keep in mind that Wix doesn’t support PHP. But you could try UltimateWB instead, as it allows for PHP. If coding isn't your thing, asking ChatGPT might be useful, but be cautious with their outputs as they can be buggy sometimes.
