Hey everyone! I'm currently trying to decide on a Linux distro for my low-end laptop. It has an Intel Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and no dedicated GPU. I did some research and found Linux Mint which seems user-friendly, but a friend recommended Debian instead. Honestly, Debian looks a lot more complicated compared to Mint. I've also seen a lot of posts suggesting I should just go with Ubuntu. Considering my laptop's specs, I'm hesitant to choose Ubuntu, but I'm unsure between Mint and Debian. Can anyone share advice or insights? Thanks a lot!

Try the Linux distro selection page for recommendations on what to use! Also, remember to take regular backups and test everything in a virtual machine before diving in. Stay safe!
Honestly, it comes down to personal preference. If you like to have a straightforward interface, go with Mint. Debian's great but could feel overwhelming for beginners. Ubuntu has gotten a bit heavier recently, so it's understandable to want something lighter like Mint or Debian. Just look for a distro that matches your machine's capabilities more than just the visuals!
You might want to check out LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). It's Debian-based and combines Debian's stability with Mint's ease of use. I've found it to be the best of both worlds after two decades with Linux! Perfect for low-spec machines too.

That’s solid advice! I’ve been worried about performance issues, given my specs. I’ll focus on what works best for my laptop.
