Need Help Deciding on Domain Renewal and Alternatives

Hey everyone, I could really use some guidance here. I have a domain through Squarespace that's up for renewal, and honestly, I've been pretty out of the loop since switching to Google Domains back in 2022. The only reason I still have this dead website is that all my family's email accounts are tied to it on Dreamhost. Squarespace wants to charge me $15 to renew my .net domain—does that sound reasonable? I'm a bit lost when it comes to shopping around for domain registration since prices often seem hard to find. While I'm not going to switch for just a few bucks, I'd like to explore my options.

Also, I noticed my domain is now listed as free on Cloudflare and shows "invalid nameservers." I'm not sure if I should just delete this from my account or if that could cause any issues. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, $15 isn't bad for a renewal. Depending on where you go, SquareSpace might be a bit pricier, but not by too much. I'd recommend looking at Namecheap or Porkbun for potentially better rates.

About the Cloudflare situation, it sounds like you might have accidentally initiated a transfer. You can just delete it from their listing if you haven't fully transferred. If you're confused about nameservers, just reach out to customer service—they're usually super helpful with these types of things!

Thanks! I appreciate the clarification on the nameservers. That definitely makes me feel more at ease.

$15 for a .net renewal is actually pretty standard. It's not uncommon for Squarespace to charge a bit more, but overall it seems in line with what you'd expect. Just make sure you compare it with others like Namecheap or similar providers if you decide to shop around.

As for your DNS issue with Cloudflare, it seems like you might've started the process to have them manage your domain. If you didn't finish that, you can safely remove the listing. I've been using Cloudflare for a while and find their service pretty solid, so if you go that route, it can be beneficial!
