Need Help Upgrading My RAM for an Old Gaming PC

Hey everyone! I received a gaming PC a few years back, and while it's pretty outdated, it still works fine for me. Right now, I've only got 8GB of RAM, but I'd really like to upgrade to 16 or even 32GB if possible. The motherboard I'm working with is the B85-G43 GAMING (MS-7816), but I have no experience at all with upgrading components—I haven't even opened up the case before! I'm confused about what type of RAM I need to get based on my motherboard. Any advice would be super helpful since I'm a total newbie!

You'll need to look for DDR3 RAM; that's what your motherboard supports. Just a heads up, DDR3 can be a bit tricky to find since it's older tech nowadays. Make sure to check how many RAM slots you have. If you have one stick of 8GB, you can just get another 8GB stick to hit 16GB total!

Good call on DDR3! Just make sure the speeds match to avoid compatibility issues.

Thanks for clarifying! I'll check that out.

A good way to get all the necessary details about your system is to download a program called CPU-Z. It’ll give you the specs you need, like how much RAM you currently have and which slots are used. That way, you'll know if you can add more RAM or need to replace existing sticks.
