Need Help with Linux Installation Issues

I've been trying to install Linux with the help of a friend, but I'm hitting some roadblocks. We attempted to install Bazzite first, but it wouldn't work because my USB drive was too small. Then we moved on to CachyOS, but I'm getting an error that says I'm missing a kernel. Is there anyone who can help me sort this out?

I recommend giving Linux Mint a shot. It's super user-friendly and great for everyday use. You can make your USB bootable with Ventoy, just make sure to put the Mint ISO in the correct data partition instead of the 'Ventoy:EFI' folder. Mint's a solid choice for new users!

That sounds pretty standard. But he's trying something a bit less conventional—Mint might be too mainstream for him.

What size USB stick are you using? Are you set on a particular distribution or DE, or just looking to test out Linux? If you just want to try it out, consider a live USB version that doesn't need installation. Here's a link to some live options: https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current-live/amd64/iso-hybrid/?C=S;O=D. The biggest image is 3.3 GB, so a 4 or 8 GB USB should suffice, more if you want to save any changes. Let me know if you have any questions! Cheers!

Thanks a lot! I figured it out—I just needed to disable secure boot and now Bazzite is working. This is my first time using Linux, and it honestly feels like a whole new world. I really appreciate the help!
