My buddy just got his first PC about a month ago and has been experiencing this annoying issue. Occasionally, when he launches a game, the screen just goes black, leaving only the cursor visible. He can still move the cursor around and even access the system tray with the Windows key or see all open apps with Windows + Tab, but clicking on anything just returns him to the black screen. The only way to get back into Windows temporarily is by using Ctrl + Alt + Del to sign out and then logging back in, but it works for only a limited time. This issue doesn't seem tied to any specific game. We've updated the drivers and disabled fast boot, but we're stuck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're dealing with a known bug related to some of the more recent Windows updates from November or December. I’d strongly suggest checking if your Windows, drivers, and BIOS are all up to date. Sometimes, those updates include important fixes that can resolve issues like this. Let me know if that helps!
Have you checked the Windows System event log? You might be missing some error reports that could help troubleshoot this. It can be tricky since it seems like Windows doesn't completely crash, but gathering those logs could provide more insight! If you need help locating them, just let me know and I'll guide you through it!

I haven't checked the logs yet. Could you help me find where to look for those?
