Hi everyone! I recently upgraded my old 750W power supply to a Corsair RM1000x, but now when I press the power button, nothing happens at all. The ATX cable that came with the new power supply was a bit confusing. While the main motherboard connector fit well, the other connector is a single 5x2 piece and my motherboard only has a 4x2 input (like my old PSU had). According to the manual, I should connect an 8-pin cable directly if my motherboard has an 8-pin +12V socket. Since my motherboard has a 4-pin socket, I took the 8-pin cable and used it, leaving the 5x2 connector unplugged. Also, I noticed there's a nearby 2x2 connector that could potentially need power. Could someone help clarify what I might have done wrong?

First thing to check is whether the power button on the back of the PSU is flipped on. Make sure it's set to "I". Sometimes that's all it takes to get things started!
I totally get the confusion! The 5x2 connector not matching your motherboard is tricky. Just focus on connecting the 4x2 and if there’s another 2x2 nearby, it usually just adds extra power for stability, mainly for heavy loads. Make sure to double-check that all your cables are firmly connected and you might also want to try connecting that second EPS cable if it helps.
It sounds like you might be missing a connection there. The power supply's 24-pin cable should have both an 18-pin connector and a 10-pin connector (the 5x2 you mentioned). Make sure you've plugged both ends into the power supply, as well as the 24-pin into the motherboard. Also, typically, just one 8-pin EPS connector is needed, so if your board doesn't support the extra one, it's fine to leave it out.
