I'm looking to enhance the security of my home network and router. I've already set up WPA3 encryption with a strong password, but I'm not very tech-savvy and need advice on additional security measures. Specifically, I'm wondering whether I should allow or block incoming IPv4 WAN ICMP echo requests on my Verizon router. Any tips for improving security would also be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Just a heads up, blocking those requests might make some network tools like ping unusable. If you need them for specific reasons, you might want to consider keeping them open.

It's generally best to deny those incoming ICMP echo requests for security reasons. It minimizes your exposure to potential ping sweeps or attacks on your network.

Using a personal router is just the second step in securing your network. What's the first step, you ask? It's choosing a secure ISP and making sure your internet connection itself is safe!
