Hey everyone! I could really use your input on a dilemma I'm facing. I started my programming journey at 14 with some little games on Roblox but stopped for a while. Now at 18, I picked it back up and learned the basics of Python. However, my true passion lies in Operating Systems, so I've started exploring C. I can write some basic code, but I often find myself questioning whether C is really that useful in today's job market or if it's just too niche. Should I keep developing my skills in C as a hobby while learning another language that's more marketable for jobs? I've thought about backend development or fullstack, but I've heard mixed reviews about fullstack being pretty tough. I'm naturally curious and exploring my options, so I'd love some feedback on how to approach this! Thanks for reading!

You can absolutely find jobs with C skills! If Operating Systems is where your passion lies, pursuing it will likely lead to job opportunities without much hassle. Just focus on a path that excites you, and you’ll do great!
I think you should deeply learn about Operating Systems beyond just coding. This knowledge will give you a solid foundation on why C is used, especially in system-level programming. Start project work to solidify your learning!
C is definitely still in demand, especially in embedded systems. Companies are looking for developers skilled in C, so you can find good job opportunities there.
C remains useful, but it can be tricky to scale due to its complexity compared to high-level languages like Python. For instance, the Linux kernel has been primarily written in C for ages, but the trend is shifting towards Rust for future developments.
