I'm building my first gaming PC and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it to spend a bit more on an AM5 chip, or if I should just go with an AM4 like the Ryzen 5 5600X. I'm also curious if I should consider Intel instead. Thanks for any advice!

Are you planning to stick with an existing AM4 motherboard? If you already have one, it's a solid choice, especially if you want great performance without the higher cost of AM5. If you're looking for high-end performance for gaming, AM4 can still hold its own!
It really depends on your budget. If you're planning to keep your GPU in the mix and not downgrade, going for AM5 could be a good choice. But if your budget is around $700-800, sticking with AM4 might make more sense since you'll get decent performance without breaking the bank.
Definitely check out PCPartPicker.com for guidance on builds, or you can ask for help in threads like r/buildapcforme. Also, keep in mind that AM5 isn't drastically more expensive now, so something to consider.
Look for used parts to save some cash! I recently got a used 7700X paired with a 7900XTX, and it's running smoothly. Just keep an eye out for deals!
The 5600X is a great CPU unless you're into competitive gaming or simulation stuff. It performs exceptionally well and can keep up with GPU like the 5070TI at 4K, so you should be good to go!
Thanks for the input! Yeah, that fits right with my budget.
