Should I trust the shop’s advice on replacing both the PSU and motherboard?

I'm facing a dilemma with my Acer Predator Orion 3000 Gaming Desktop, which has an Intel Core i7-13700F and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060. The computer shop suggested that I replace both the power supply unit (PSU) and the motherboard because the 6-pin PSUs are hard to find, low on power, and often unreliable. They claimed that it would be more cost-effective in the long run to do both replacements rather than just replacing the PSU. I'm skeptical about this advice and would really appreciate any insights. Thanks in advance!

Hey! It's a tough spot you're in. Since your Acer has a non-standard PSU, you'd have to either get a compatible one or replace both the PSU and motherboard. If your existing PSU came with the RTX 4060, it's likely enough for it unless you're overclocking. Before making any big moves, check with Acer if they offer a PSU replacement directly, that could save you a lot of hassle.

That's a good point! I also heard that the original PSUs can sometimes be sketchy. Maybe just replacing it with the same model could be an easier fix. I'm curious if Acer offers any warranty options.
