Should I Upgrade My 10-Year-Old Gaming PC or Buy a New One?

I have a gaming PC that was built around 10 years ago, and I'm considering upgrading it. I'm not very knowledgeable about PC components, so I'd like some advice on what to keep and whether it's worth it to upgrade or if I should just buy a completely new setup. Here's what I currently have:

- Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00 GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- Storage: 119 GB SSD and 932 GB HDD
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (4 GB)

I mostly play games, so any tips would be appreciated!

If you max out your RAM and get a bigger SSD, plus a newer GPU, it could still handle older titles and many indie games decently. You might need to lower settings for AAA games, though.

It's definitely worth keeping some parts! I took my old i5 and turned it into a server, and I've been having a blast with it. It can still handle light tasks and is great for those downtime projects!

Honestly, there's pretty limited upgrade potential with your setup. If you're looking to play newer games or more demanding titles, it might be time to consider a full rebuild instead of upgrading individual parts.

I get where you're coming from! I upgraded from a similar setup. The CPU can really be a bottleneck with today’s games; upgrading the RAM and GPU can help, but it might not be enough for AAA games.

I'd probably recommend going for a whole new PC unless you're mainly into lighter games. Your current hardware is getting pretty outdated for modern titles.
