I'm looking to enhance my PC's performance primarily for gaming, though I also do a bit of video editing, streaming, and coding. My current setup includes an Intel i7-12700F CPU and a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB GPU. I'm not planning to upgrade both components at once; instead, I'm keen on replacing one of them right now. My budget is between $500 and $600. With a 600W PSU in my system, I suspect it may need an upgrade as well. Any suggestions on which part I should upgrade first?

Your i7-12700F is still a decent CPU. If you're not in need of more power for non-gaming tasks, I’d suggest focusing on the GPU as the better bang for your buck. The 9060XT 16GB is great, but you might also find a good deal on the 9070XT in your budget. You likely won’t need a new PSU, just check if yours is a reliable brand!
Which PSU model do you have? It might surprise you if it’s quiet enough for the new GPUs.
Definitely go for the GPU upgrade! Right now, you’ll likely notice a bigger performance boost from a better graphics card than from upgrading the CPU. I’d recommend the 9060XT or, if you can stretch your budget a bit, a 9070XT could be perfect. But just keep in mind you might need to look into a new PSU for those powerful cards!
Anyone have experience with the 9070XT? Is it really worth the extra cash?
I had the same CPU and moving to the 9070XT was a fantastic upgrade for me.
Upgrading the CPU can be tricky; you’d need to change your motherboard and RAM if you want a newer one. Since you've got a solid CPU already, I'd recommend putting your money into a new GPU instead. Higher VRAM would help, so models like the 9060XT 16GB could offer a good balance. Just keep in mind that the 5070 is powerful but might fall short on VRAM with only 12GB. It's ultimately about whether you want better frame rates or improved texture quality!
Gotcha! That makes sense; I didn’t realize it could get so complicated.
What's everyone saying about the 9060XT? I'm used to NVIDIA cards, so this AMD seems unfamiliar.
It really depends on your gaming resolution and the kind of games you play. If you're gaming at 1080p and enjoy strategy or simulator games, consider upgrading to a better CPU, like the 14600KF. But if you’re playing more demanding AAA titles and aiming for higher resolutions (like 1440p), then a new GPU would likely be a great choice. Something like a used RTX 3080 or 4070 could fit your budget nicely, and you might want to look at the 16GB 9060XT or 5060TI for some solid options. Just make sure you check what's available!
I've heard great things about the 9070XT too! What makes it stand out compared to the 9060XT?
I mainly play at 1080p too, focusing on FPS games. I find even medium settings can make a difference in performance.

I've seen the 9070XT pop up between $500 and $600, so it might be worth holding out for that.
