Should I Upgrade My PC Now or Wait?

Hey folks! I built my PC about two years ago with the following specs: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, Lian Li Lanccol 216 case, Sapphire RX 6900 XT Nitro+ GPU, MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi motherboard, Corsair 32 GB DDR5 RAM, Kingston KC3000 2TB SSD, MSI MPG A850G PSU, and a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE cooler. I don't game much anymore but I want to be ready for future titles like Crimson Desert, GTA VI, and some MMOs over the next 3-5 years. I'm also doing light work like Excel and enjoying movies and browsing. I picked up the RAM before prices shot up, but I'm wondering about potential upgrades to my GPU. Should I consider selling my current one for something like a 9700 XT? What do you guys think?

When it comes to a GPU upgrade, wait a bit to see what the next generation brings. You might find more significant advancements by then rather than a minor bump up now.

Yeah, and with the launch of new titles, seeing what they demand could change everything!

Honestly, if your PC is still performing well, you don’t really need to upgrade just yet. Stick with what you have until you actually encounter performance issues. Keeping the 6900 XT for now seems smart since it can handle most resolutions well.

Exactly! Upgrading while everything is running fine doesn't seem necessary.

You might want to look at the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT for an upgrade. The 5070 Ti has a great balance of performance and power consumption, and it's worth considering since your GPU will likely help you keep pace with future games. The rest of your setup looks solid! But if you're into productivity, your CPU could feel a bit lackluster in heavy multitasking scenarios.

Yeah, I agree! Just make sure the power usage doesn't become a huge concern for you.

Doesn't the 7800X3D fall behind in multitasking? I'm building a similar setup and just curious.

Definitely keep an eye on the GPU market. The 5070 Ti will be a long-term solution for your gaming needs. Your current rig is already strong, and if you’re not facing any performance issues, you might not need to rush into upgrades unless prices spike drastically.

What about those who already have high specs but want to upgrade? Should we pull the trigger now?
