I'm in the process of upgrading my PC from a Ryzen 1600 to a 5600, mainly for casual gaming in my living room. Currently, I have a 2x8 GB kit running at 2666 MHz. I'm considering if I should upgrade to a faster 3200 MHz RAM kit or if it's better to save that money for a future GPU upgrade. Will the RAM upgrade have a noticeable impact on performance or is it just not worth it?

Realistically, the performance boost from RAM upgrades is minimal. If you can sell your current kit, you might upgrade for little to no cost. It's a better investment than buying new RAM outright right now.
Upgrading your RAM can definitely help smooth out gameplay by improving your 1% low frame rates, making everything feel more responsive.
If RAM was free, I'd say go for it, but given the current prices, I wouldn't stress over it. There will be some improvements, but not enough to justify the cost in my opinion.
Someone is selling 8GB of 3200 MHz for about $60. Based on what everyone has said, it seems like I should skip the upgrade.
Honestly, with the current RAM prices, just try overclocking your existing kit to 3200 MHz if you can. It's usually doable and can give you decent performance without spending extra cash.
Okay, I’ll give that a go instead!
Just a heads up, memory overclocking can sometimes be tricky. Make sure to check compatibility.
I wouldn’t focus on the upgrade unless you're experiencing significant stuttering. In that case, a RAM upgrade might help, but otherwise, I’d hold off.

That makes sense! I’ve read the new Zen 3 chips benefit more from faster RAM, but it might not be worth it in my case.
