Should I Use AI to Build My Business Website or Hire a Developer?

I'm trying to create a display-only company website but I have no web development experience. I've started using AI tools like Claude and Cursor that can build visually appealing sites using Next.js and deploy them with Vercel. However, I'm worried about how well the SEO will be handled. Claude claims it can manage SEO, but I don't know how to verify its effectiveness. Should I stick with these AI tools, or would it be better to hire a web developer? If I choose to hire someone, should I look for a WordPress specialist or someone more modern? While hiring a developer means I can trust a professional and won't have to worry about SEO, I also have concerns about cost and potential communication issues since I'm not fluent in web development language. What do you think I should do?

Honestly, hiring a solid web developer is the way to go. While WordPress is a popular option for business websites, there are plenty of other tools that might fit your needs just as well. And don't worry too much about the communication barrier; good developers are used to working with clients without a tech background.

If your site is just a simple landing page, an AI tool might do the job just fine. But if you plan to add complexity in the future, it's safer to hire a web developer. Also, make sure they understand your needs without drowning you in jargon—communication is key!

That's solid advice! I'd add that if you go with a developer, do your homework to avoid scams. Some might lure you in with low fees only to hit you with hidden charges later.

I wouldn’t rely solely on AI for your website if you don’t have a tech background. There are many factors beyond just aesthetics that are crucial for a business site. Consider starting with an AI-generated option to get your ideas out, but definitely consult with a developer after to refine it and ensure it's functional.
