Struggling to Get rEFInd Themes Working After Installing Cachy OS

I recently set up Cachy OS and rEFInd to dual boot with Windows 10 and I'm trying to customize the boot menu like I did with my Ventoy USB, but I'm hitting a wall. Although I followed all the instructions from the Killign rEFInd theme repository and added an 'include' line at the end of my rEFInd configuration file, my boot menu still looks like the default one. I created the themes folder and even restarted my machine, but no changes occur.

I can manually change the background image by renaming it to background.jpg or png and adjusting some settings, but the themes themselves aren't working at all, even after trying a couple of different ones. I've watched tons of YouTube tutorials, but nothing seems to help.

Also, I noticed that my boot partition structure looks different from what the tutorial mentioned, which could be part of the issue. Any advice for a Linux newbie like me?

If you're looking for a good dark theme, there are plenty of options available online. I recommend checking out the rEFInd themes section on GitHub; it'll point you toward some popular choices. Just remember to double-check the folder names to ensure everything matches your configuration.

Check out the Arch Linux wiki page on rEFInd, specifically the section about installing external themes. It should guide you through the setup. If your boot partition is mounted differently, simply look for '/boot/EFI' instead, that might solve your issue.

Just had a similar issue! Turns out I accidentally added a '-main' to the theme folder name when I extracted it. You need to make sure that the folder name matches what’s in the theme.conf file exactly. After fixing that, my theme loaded perfectly. If you're still having trouble, let us know your folder structure!
