I'm really frustrated trying to get yabridge up and running on Ubuntu Studio. I've watched numerous tutorial videos and even used ChatGPT to generate scripts, but I keep running into errors like 'no such file or directory exists.' I'm really close to giving up on Linux altogether because this process has been so aggravating! To give you some context, I'm using Ubuntu Studio mainly for recording demos in Reaper. I've got Reaper and Wine installed, along with Winetricks and some other tools recommended to me. However, I can't seem to get yabridge installed, which I understand is essential for running Windows plugins. Has anyone successfully installed yabridge? I'd really appreciate any step-by-step instructions or insights on what I might be doing wrong. Thanks!

Why are you running Reaper through Wine? It's available on Linux! There's a version you can download from Flathub that works natively. Also, I've heard that some users have better success with Fedora and KDE for audio work, so maybe consider trying that if you still face issues with Ubuntu Studio.
I totally get how frustrating that can be! Always good to mention your distro and hardware details when you ask for help. For the Yabridge install, make sure you're using Wine Staging and downgrade it to version 9.21, then hold it. Newer Wine versions sometimes have compatibility issues with yabridge. After that, try installing yabridge again, set up your VSTs, and configure your paths. Finally, just run 'yabridgectl sync' to finish it up. As for Winetricks, it's a convenient tool to help you set up your Wine environment without getting too deep into command line stuff.
I thought about that, but ChatGPT recommended using the Windows version with Wine since I'm only working with Windows plugins. It suggested that using the Linux version just for Linux plugins might cause some instability if I have to bridge each one individually.
