I've been a VMware Admin at an MNC for 4 years, and lately, I've been having a hard time finding job openings in this field. I primarily work with vSphere clients, and it seems only a few companies are utilizing this platform, making my job prospects pretty slim. Even when there are openings, it feels like they're mostly going to candidates with a lot more experience. I'm really at a crossroads here and could use some guidance on whether I should stick with VMware or explore other domains. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Why not experiment a bit with Proxmox in your homelab? There's actually quite a bit of demand for migrations from VMware to Proxmox right now, so getting hands-on with it could open up new job opportunities for you.
A lot of companies are reevaluating their VMware use, especially with increasing costs from Broadcom. They're looking for people who can help them transition to alternatives like Hyper-V or Azure. So, those skills might be in high demand soon. It could be worth learning about migration options to stay competitive!

From my experience as a consultant, most companies I work with are either sticking with VMware or moving to Hyper-V. I haven’t really seen anyone migrating to Proxmox so I’m not sure how much demand there is there. But exploring it wouldn't hurt!
