Struggling with Slow University WiFi – Any Solutions?

I've been dealing with incredibly slow WiFi at my university, specifically using a service called Wifinity, which many people complain about. The connection is so bad that while I can occasionally play games, I experience a lot of lag, and trying to stream anything, even at the lowest quality, results in constant freezing. I've experimented with various settings: switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, altering the roaming aggressiveness, and even changing the preferred band to 6GHz, then 5GHz, and back to 2.4GHz. Additionally, I've toggled the private MAC address feature. Despite all these efforts, my speed tests report between 100 and 300+ Mbps, yet my task manager shows I get less than 1 Mbps most of the time. I've also updated my internet driver, but it claims to be the latest version. I really need suggestions on what else I can try since my laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port.

Even if your laptop doesn't have an Ethernet port, you could consider getting a USB-to-Ethernet adapter for under $20. Wifinity allows wired connections through their Optify MediaHub routers, which could help you avoid Wi-Fi congestion completely!

That's a good tip! But just a heads up, the WiFi router isn't in my room... Any other suggestions?
