Suggestions for Wireless Headphones for Seniors

I'm looking for some good wireless headphones for my 64-year-old stepdad. He enjoys watching videos, often at a pretty loud volume, and I want him to be able to do that without disturbing anyone else. Closed-back headphones would be ideal to keep the sound contained. Durability is key since he has a habit of breaking electronics. Also, it would be great if they don't interfere with his nasal cannula for oxygen. The TV he uses is an old, non-smart 720p model, and while he likes to use subtitles, he often turns the volume up too much despite not having great hearing. What options do I have that would suit his needs without further complicating his tech situation?

Make sure to look at headphones that have a volume limiter or an open-back design to prevent sound pressure build-up. It's essential to take care of his hearing health, especially considering he might have some significant loss already, which can lead to other issues.

Good point about the price; you might want to consider brands like Sony or JBL—they're reliable and fairly durable. Just keep in mind that if the TV doesn’t have Bluetooth, you might run into some connectivity issues. Some models come with USB dongles that could help, but you might need to look deeper into that.

Exactly! It's all about finding the right compatibility. I think some headsets also come with options for Bluetooth adapters, which could solve those TV connection issues.

If you’re considering a new TV, check if it has a hotel volume option. That feature allows you to cap the maximum volume, which could be really helpful!

If the TV or amplifier has Bluetooth, the V-MODA CROSSFADE 2 or 3 Wireless would work great! They have excellent sound quality and connectivity options, especially if he’s casting from his phone.

I love my Sennheiser RS 175 RF headphones! They've been super durable and provide great sound quality without disturbing anyone around me. They're wireless, so you can set them up easily with most TVs.

It might be a good idea to get his hearing tested. A simple pair of hearing aids could improve his quality of life more than headphones, especially since he may just need help hearing better. You can find some general options on Amazon, too!
