Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my new PC build featuring an Arctic Liquid Freezer 3. While it's pretty quiet during most gaming sessions, things get a bit noisy when I put it under heavy load, especially during shader compilation where the CPU usage hits max. I'm considering replacing my Arctic P14 Max fans with two Silent Wings Pro 4 140mm fans. Will this switch make a noticeable difference in noise levels, particularly at around 70-80% RPM? I'm struggling to find any detailed comparisons aside from the specs. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you thought about tweaking your fan curve? Sometimes just adjusting that can make a big difference without needing to swap fans.
Give ~50% RPM a shot. It’s usually where I keep mine, and it balances cooling and noise pretty well.
What do you mean by 50% RPM exactly? My fan curve is set with 20% at 60°C, 50% at 75°C, and 100% at 85°C. Should I adjust that?
The P14 Max can ramp up to 2800 RPM, which is pretty high. You might not need to run them at 70-80%. Try lowering it to 30-50% and see how your temperatures look before making the switch to the Silent Wings.
That’s good advice! I just built the PC yesterday and haven't had a chance to fully test it yet. It runs quietly most of the time, but it gets loud during shader compilations when it reaches around 90% usage. I saw the temp hit 77°C during that. Would the Silent Wings help with noise in those moments?
Could you share your system specs and temperature readings? It might help in diagnosing the noise issue better.
Sure! I’m running a 9800X3D, and I noticed the temps creep up to 77°C while compiling shaders. Not sure if that's full 100% CPU load yet, but the fan noise is definitely an issue at the 70-90% RPM range.
Thanks for the suggestion! I did follow the recommended fan curves for both the Arctic and the Silent Wings. It’s not too bad until I hit around 70% RPM, then it gets pretty loud.
