I'm considering making the switch to Linux but I'm not super tech-savvy. I want to know if I can still do my usual stuff like playing games on Steam, checking emails, and running software like Adobe Suite, Discord, and Zoom if I install a Linux version that looks similar to Windows. I work from home and I'd love to avoid roadblocks with my work tasks. If I could still play some Age of Empires on Steam, I'd be ready to switch today! I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you might have.

Adobe doesn't really play nice with Linux, unfortunately. You'll need to use a virtual machine to run it if you want to stick with Linux. As for games, many work using Steam's Proton, but keep an eye out for those with anti-cheat features—they're usually Windows-exclusive. Still, there are tons of games that run great!

Good call on the anti-cheat games! I think I might try using Linux for daily stuff and just boot into Windows for those specific games or Adobe whenever I need to. It seems like a solid plan!
